MCP Server — Overview

The WakaStart MCP (Model Context Protocol) server is hosted by this documentation site at https://docs.wakastart.app/api/mcp. It lets Claude Code access the public API documentation and OpenAPI specs directly from your editor.

Why this integration

Rather than juggling between this documentation and your IDE, you can configure Claude Code to query the MCP directly and get: the list of available endpoints, full DTO details, generated curl examples, and explanations of the auth flow — all in context, while you code.

5 available tools

1. list_endpoints

Lists all /api/* endpoints with HTTP method, route, required right, and description.

bash
curl -X POST https://docs.wakastart.app/api/mcp \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "jsonrpc": "2.0", "id": 1, "method": "tools/call", "params": { "name": "list_endpoints", "arguments": { "tag": "Auth" } } }'

Optional parameters:

  • tag: filter by Swagger tag (Auth, Config, Discovery, Invitations…)
  • method: filter by HTTP method (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH)

2. get_endpoint_spec

Full detail of an endpoint: request/response DTO, HTTP codes, required right, examples.

bash
curl -X POST https://docs.wakastart.app/api/mcp \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "jsonrpc": "2.0", "id": 2, "method": "tools/call", "params": { "name": "get_endpoint_spec", "arguments": { "path": "/api/auth/enrich", "method": "POST" } } }'

3. search_docs

Full-text search across the site's Markdown documentation chapters.

bash
curl -X POST https://docs.wakastart.app/api/mcp \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "jsonrpc": "2.0", "id": 3, "method": "tools/call", "params": { "name": "search_docs", "arguments": { "query": "PKCE flow organizations" } } }'

4. get_auth_flow

Structured summary of the authentication flow.

Parameters:

  • format: summary | full (default: full)
  • context: frontend | backend | mobile

5. get_error_code

Detail of a Wakastart HTTP or business error code.

Recognized codes: 401, 403, 404, 409, 429, 5xx, BOLA, TOKEN_EXPIRED, VULN-002…

Best practices

  • Use list_endpoints + get_endpoint_spec at the start of a sprint to discover new routes.
  • The MCP is read-only — it cannot modify the platform.
  • In CI/CD, do not include .mcp.json in the production container.
  • If the docs instance is down, the static OpenAPI spec remains accessible via public/openapi.json in this repo.
