Backup and Restore
This section lets you export the configuration of your applications, networks, and customers to a backup file, and re-import it to duplicate or restore an environment.
When do you use this section?
- You want to create a backup copy of an application's configuration
- You want to duplicate an existing application or network to create a variant
- You need to restore a configuration after a mistake
- You are migrating a configuration from one environment to another (test → production)
Exporting a configuration
From the main menu on the left, click Administration then Backup.
Three sections let you separately export the configurations of your Applications, Networks, and Customers.
For each section, you have two options:
- Download an empty template: useful if you want to create a configuration manually following the expected structure
- Export all: downloads a file containing the complete configuration of all your elements
Keep this file in a safe place: it contains your entire platform configuration.
Importing a configuration
The import process consists of four guided steps:
- Drop the file: drag and drop your backup file into the designated area, or click to select it.
- Automatic analysis: WakaStart detects the type of configuration contained in the file and the action that will be performed.
- Choose the conflict strategy: if elements already exist, choose how to proceed:
- Overwrite: replaces existing elements with those from the file
- Merge: combines the two configurations
- Skip existing: imports only new elements
- Result: a summary is displayed with the number of elements created, updated, skipped, and any errors.
